Try Out Your Virtual Glasses and Sunglasses Online

When it comes to buying glasses and sunglasses online, you may feel a little hesitant. What will suit you best, the black or tortoiseshell frames? What about that pair of aviators - will they look the way you want them too? How do you know the glasses you order will tick all of your boxes? This is where trying glasses virtually comes into play. Our virtual glasses tool allows you to digitally try on glasses from the comfort of your own home. You’ll be able to see what they look like from all angles, and in different colourways. Keep reading to find out more, and learn how to use it in five easy steps.

How To Use Our Virtual Glasses Try-On Tool

Before you start, there are a couple of easy things you’ll need to sort out beforehand, just to set the stage and make sure everything will be working properly. You’ll need to double check that you’re using a device with a camera built in, and that our site has permission to use it. You may see a prompt come up in the left hand corner asking for permission. You’ll need to select ‘accept’ if this comes up.

Step 1: Let’s Get Started

First of all, you’ll need to choose the glasses you’d like to test on. Go to their product page, and select the ‘Virtual Try On’ button. This can be found just underneath the ‘size guide’ link, and looks like this:

Step 2: Accept the Ts and Cs

If this is the first time that you are using the virtual glasses tool, you’ll need to accept the terms and conditions. If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please take a look at our This is what it’ll look like below.

Step 3: Make Sure Everything is Set Up Correctly

Before anything comes up on the screen, you’ll be greeted by this prompt. This lists some top tips to ensure that the try on works correctly. If the room you’re in is too dark, or you’re sitting too close to/ far away from the camera, it may not work as it should. If you have longer hair, make sure it’s pushed back behind your ears. And if you’re already wearing glasses - remember to take them off! There’s also the option to restart the tool if you need to give things another go.

Step 4: Give it a Go!

You’re ready to go! Your camera will start recording you and it’ll appear on the screen. There might be a brief pause, but then the glasses will automatically be placed over your face. They’ll also be scaled to fit, so what you see will be the size they will be in real life. You can move your head around, and see what they look like from different angles!

Step 5: Change it Up With a Photo

If you don’t want to use the video function, you can use a photo instead. On the screen of the virtual glasses tool, you’ll see this logo in the left corner:

You’ll then be prompted to choose a photo that’s already saved on your computer. We recommend picking one where you are facing forward, with no hair over your face. Also double check that you’re not picking one where you are wearing glasses! Once you have selected the photo, the glasses will be automatically layered over the image. Unlike the video, you won’t be able to see what they look like at different angles. However, this is a great way to see what your glasses would look like paired with different outfits and different hairstyles.

More About Trying Our Glasses On Online

So how does our virtual glasses tool actually work? Basically, it uses your camera and digitally layers the pair of glasses over your face. Down to some pretty clever technology, these glasses are mapped to you, meaning you can move your head from side to side and see what they would look like from different angles. And best of all, it’s completely free to use!
