Prada Sunglasses: Guide To Finding the Perfect Pair | Fashion Eyewear UK

Prada Sunglasses
For designer sunglasses synonymous with timeless elegance and sophistication, look no further than Prada. This luxury designer house was founded in 1913 in Milan, initially as a leather goods shop. Named after the founders Mario and Martino Prada, the brand has since expanded into fashion and accessories. The Prada sunglasses line was launched in 1999, and they are now manufactured by the Luxottica group in Italy. If you’re considering buying a pair of Prada sunglasses, we’ve pulled together everything you need to know in this guide. We’ll cover how to check the authenticity of a pair of Prada sunglasses, details about Prada frames serial numbers, and where you can purchase your Prada sunnies.

How to tell if Prada Sunglasses are Real?

If you’re going to invest in a pair of Prada frames, you’ll understandably want to ensure that you’re getting the real thing. The good news is that there is a list of checks you can do to know if your Prada sunglasses are real. Let’s get into them.

First things first. The Prada logo has a specific and distinct ‘R’ shape. You’ll want to ensure that this remains consistent across everything featuring the logo that comes with your sunglasses.

Your Prada sunglasses will come in a cardboard branded retail box with the logo on. They’ll also be accompanied with a protective glasses case, matching cleaning cloth, information booklet and authenticity card. On all of these, you’ll want to check that the logo, font, spelling, spacing, and alignment of the text is correct and up-to-par.

Let’s get onto the frames themselves. Note that the Prada logo is etched into the top corner of the left lens. This is not printed on, so shouldn’t scratch off.
However, do note that this is only on newer models.
Inside the right arm of the frames,  you’ll find the Prada logo alongside ‘Made in Italy’. Like with the packaging and accompanying information, check that the logo is correct and everything is spelt correctly.
There should be a ‘CE’ or ‘UKCA’ icon inside the right arm too. This shows that the glasses have met European and UK safety standards.
On the opposite left arm, you should find the following details - ‘S’ for sunglasses or ‘V’ for vision prescription glasses, ‘‘PR’ for Prada, then the model number.
These should then be followed by millimetre measurements of the arms, nose bridge, and lens diameter. You can check the length of the arms and see if they match the measurement given inside the arm.
Following this, you’ll then find colour code and lens category too.
Note that newer models feature Prada’s logo etched on the inside of the nose pad, or the ridge that sits along the nose.

How to Check Prada Sunglasses Serial Number

Serial numbers are an anti-copycat measurement taken by Prada that makes authenticating official glasses a little easier. These are found on newer models, and are etched in the top corner of the right lens. These are purposefully small to make it harder to replicate.

You can check this serial number by comparing it to the authenticity card you received with your sunglasses. The two should match.
