Artisan Italian luxury brand is a relative newcomer to the eyewear industry. Famous for its quality leather goods, understated elegance and the distinctive intertwined motif on their products the brand’s sunwear pieces are a favourite of the international jet set, including Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie and Usher.
"When your own initials are enough"
Luxury Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 in Vincenza, Italy by Vittorio and Laura Moltedo. The name “Bottega Veneta” means “Venetian shop”, which is where the company began selling quality leather goods. Its signature items are the hand-woven leather handbags, belts and shoes.
Bottega Veneta has a very discreet minimalistic style, with a plain no-logo design. Promoting this brand approach and a philosophy of individuality and confidence, the label has introduced Bottega Veneta Initials, a service to personalise handbags, leather goods and certain accessories on the motto "When your own initials are enough".
Bottega Veneta became popular among celebrities in the early 80s. Andy Warhol did his Christmas shoping in the Bottega Veneta New York boutique and even made a short film for the company. Bottega Venetta stands for innovative design, excellent craftsmanship, highest quality materials and functionality. Today, the brand has many celebrity fans including Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansson.
Under the creative direction of Tom Maier since 2001 Bottega Veneta returned to its focus to the original artisan identity after a brief trend-driven period in the 90s and even opened a school to train future generations of leather artisans.
